WESTPORT - Westport police say they are doing their part to bring smiles to less fortunate children this holiday season.

The department hosted its annual holiday toy drive in the parking lot of the Athletic Shoe Factory on Post Road East.

Officers say they are collecting new, unwrapped gifts for kids of all ages.

"It's incredibly exciting for a kid who otherwise may not be expecting anything on Christmas morning to, thanks to the generosity of people who have come out and donated, be able to have a gift and really make their whole holiday season," says Sgt. Matt Gouveia.

Organizers say the toy drive will be continuing next weekend.

Officers say collection boxes are also set up at the department on Jesup Road and at Town Hall.
