WESTPORT - There's a new warning out this morning from Westport police about a utility scam targeting local businesses.

Police say scammers are calling businesses claiming to be the electric company.

Investigators say the scammers are threatening to shut off the power unless the victim pays fake overdue bills immediately with a prepaid cash card.

Police say that if you receive a similar call you should hang up and contact the utility company directly.
