WESTPORT - Residents all over Westport gathered today at the Great Cakes bakery to save the business from closing.

Rick Dickinson, owner of Great Cakes, says he thought today would be his last day baking in his kitchen until the community banded together to help him stick around a little longer.

Dickenson says that after 30 years in the business, the economy has set him back in the past few years. He says 15 percent of his business fell away after students were prohibited from bringing cupcakes to school for their birthdays.

With the community's help, Dickenson managed to earn the $4,000 he needed to keep his store open.
