WESTPORT - A ceremony was held in Westport today to mark the 100th anniversary of the unveiling of the Minute Man statue.

The statue honors 100 local patriots who defended the town against a 2,000-strong British force in April of 1777 at the battle of Campo Hill in the American Revolution. It was created by artist H. Daniel Webster.

The statue, which is currently located on Campo Road South, originally cost $3,000 to create.
