WESTPORT - The superintendent of Westport Public Schools announced Tuesday he will retire when his contract expires at the end of next school year.

Elliott Landon says he felt it was time to let someone else take over.

He has been Westport's superintendent for 16 years.

Landon says he will work to make the transition to new leadership as seamless as possible.
