WESTPORT - There are going to be some changes in how emergency calls get dispatched for the New Canaan Fire Department.

Westport firefighters are now going to be handling it.

The Westport Representative Town Meeting approved an agreement last night which they hope will save money.

Officials say they will begin a trial next month and if all goes well, they will extend it for a full year in July.

New Canaan Fire Chief Jack Hennessey released a statement today saying, "In the long term we hope that this will become a regional fire dispatch facility that other local fire departments can utilize over the years to come."
