WESTPORT - A 16-year-old Staples High School student says he learned a valuable lesson after spending a week being homeless.

With the support of his parents, Brian Saunders, of Westport, decided he wanted to know what it was like to live without a roof over his head. He spent some days at a homeless shelter and a few nights at Coleytown Elementary.

He says speaking with the homeless men and women taught him an invaluable lesson.
