Westport teen Cara MacDonald home for holidays after missing last year due to accident

WESTPORT - A Westport teen is happy to be home for the holidays this year after she was stuck in the hospital from November to January of last year because she was struck by a car.

Cara MacDonald, 16, says she was in a coma for five days last November after being struck. She says she had to spend 75 days at Blythedale Children's Hospital last year, including Christmas and New Year's.

MacDonald says she is happy she is home this year and that she has her friends, teachers, family and the hospital to thank for her recovery.

MacDonald and her loved ones raised $2,100 at the hospital's annual concert last Friday for children who still need help.
