NORWALK - This week, News 12 Connecticut's What's Ailing You looks at sinus issues.

Dr. Robert Weiss of the Connecticut Center for Advanced ENT Care in Norwalk says that a new technology is helping some sinus patients breathe better without having surgery.

The treatment consists of a balloon being inserted in the nose channel. When the balloon is inflated, it pushes the walls apart and opens up the channels.

Dr. Weiss says this has been a tough winter for sinus sufferers, likely because various respiratory viruses are going around and the harsh weather is wreaking havoc with people's immune systems.
