NORWALK - This week, News 12 Connecticut's What's Ailing You looks at sleep deprivation.

Dr. J. D. Sidana of 203 Urgent Care in Norwalk, specializes in sleep medicine, and says TV can be the enemy of sleep.

He says the light and sound prevents the brain and body from falling into much-needed deep REM sleep.

Dr. Sidana says rather than putting on the TV, people should try to head back to bed or try reading by lamp light.

He adds that those suffering from sleep apnea, which occurs when the lungs struggle to acquire air, should try sleeping on their sides.
