WASHINGTON D.C. - White House officials say they're preparing to give Pope Francis a grand welcome to the United States.
The pope is scheduled to arrive in Washington, D.C. on Sept. 22, his first ever visit to America.
Officials say Pope Francis will get a plane-side greeting from President Obama.
They say the two will meet privately in the Oval Office and Pope Francis will address a joint meeting of Congress.
Officials say the pope will then visit New York and Philadelphia before returning to the Vatican.
