BRIDGEPORT - Neighbors were evacuated last night after a Bridgeport homeowner struck a gas line while digging in the backyard of his Wilson Street home.

Firefighters say a homeowner was digging a hole to put in a fence when he hit the line.

Crews from Southern Connecticut Gas had to dig up the line and replace it to stop the leak.

No one was hurt and everyone has been allowed back into their homes.
