Wilton firefighter accused of stealing $760K from elderly woman

WILTON - A Wilton firefighter and his wife are accused of stealing more than $760,000 from an elderly Greenwich woman.

Michael Michelsen and his wife, Paula L. Halloran, who is also a financial adviser, were arraigned yesterday in Stamford Superior Court.

Investigators from the New Caanan Police Department say the two took advantage of the woman's declining health to bilk her out of money to buy themselves a house, a vacation to Aruba, shopping sprees and trips to casinos.

Michelsen and Halloran are expected to be back in court April 26.
