WILTON - Wilton police say they had to kill a dog that turned on its owner.

It happened at a home at Buckboard Ridge and Range roads.

Police say a responding officer found the woman trying to protect herself underneath a car in the driveway.

Officers say the dog was an immediate threat. The officer discharged his weapon, shooting and killing the animal.

Police say the woman was taken to Norwalk Hospital with serious injuries.
