Wilton teen presumed drowned in Idaho

WILTON - A Wilton teen is presumed drowned after a kayaking accident in Idaho.

Stephen Forster, 19, disappeared while kayaking in the Payette River Tuesday.

He is considered an expert kayaker and was in an area of rapids classified as very difficult to extremely difficult when he submerged and didn't resurface.

Searchers found his kayak heavily damaged about four miles down river. They also located his life vest but say the water level is too fast and high to search the water.

Lt. Dan Smith tells News 12 Connecticut that seven people have been killed on the Payette within the last 10 years.
