WESTPORT - The remnants of Tropical Storm Ida pummeled the Connecticut shoreline overnight with heavy winds and rain, leaving behind flooding in some areas.

Residents in Saugatuck Shores in Westport say their homes were damaged by wind and the area sustained heavy flooding Saturday before high tide. Residents say floods are common in their coastal community.

Experts say winds reached about 30 miles an hour and the surge reaching at least two feet of water made some roads impassible.
