NORWALK - Winter weather on the third day of spring has left the Department of Public Works (DPW) and residents scrambling to switch back into "snow mode" after getting a taste of spring just a few days ago.

At Weed and Duryea Lumber and Home Center in New Canaan, employees say residents already turned their sights to picking up gardening tools and potting soil for the upcoming planting season. The store's manager also ran into a problem this morning due to taking all of the winter merchandise off of the floor Monday.

The DPW is taking precautionary measures and will have snow machinery on standby until April 15.
