STAMFORD - Stamford police have arrested the ex-boyfriend of a woman who they say beat her with a hammer.

Police say 26-year-old Randolf Takeuchif showed up at the victim's apartment on Selleck Street, brutally attacked her and then threatened to kill her and her children.

They say the woman was able to free herself and call 911.  An off-duty Stamford officer says he happened to hear the call and helped arrest Takeuchif.

Officials say the victim's injuries are non-life threatening and her children were not hurt.

Takeuchif is set to appear in court tomorrow.
