Woman attacked in Stamford

STAMFORD - Stamford police are looking for answers after a woman was found lying on the sidewalk badly beaten.

The 37-year-old woman was discovered yesterday morning near 290 Greenwich Ave. Police say she had been beaten in an alley before crawling onto the sidewalk.

The woman suffered several injuries including a broken wrist, fingers and cuts that required hundreds of stitches. The weapons used to attack her were left at the scene, according to police.

Investigators say they only have a vague description of the attacker and plan to look through surveillance tapes to hopefully get more information.

Anyone with information is urged to call Stamford police at 203-977-4444.
