Woman dead after kayak accident in Norwalk River

Wilton police have reported the death of the female kayaker pulled from the Norwalk River yesterday, while crews have resumed their search for a second

WILTON - Wilton police have reported the death of the female kayaker pulled from the Norwalk River yesterday, while crews have resumed their search for a second person.

Police say two witnesses found the woman, 50-year-old Doreen Wallace, floating in the river near the Cannondale train station shortly after 6 p.m. Friday. They recovered Wallace from the water, and she later died at Norwalk Hospital.

She and a man, believed to be 46-year-old James Lind, were seen about 45 minutes earlier in a two-person kayak.

Police say the couple shared a house on Cannon Road in Wilton, just upstream from where Wallace's body and the kayak were retrieved.

Police say they do not suspect foul play.
