Woman hit, killed in Westport identified

WESTPORT - Westport police say they have identified the woman hit and killed by a car while crossing the street last night.

It happened at around 7 p.m. at the corner of Post Road East and Westfair Drive.

Police say Sharon Broecking, 62, was carrying her groceries, crossed the road and was stuck by an Audi convertible.

Witnesses say there was a 50-foot trail of debris along the road.

The cause of the accident is still under investigation. Police say no charges have been filed in the crash.
