NEW CANAAN - A New Canaan woman who lost her son on Sept. 11 founded a nonprofit organization to help families deal with tragedy.

Mary Fetchet's son, Brad, worked on the 89th floor of the South Tower.

Brad was 24 years old when he died and was a graduate of New Canaan High School and Bucknell University.

Despite Fetchet's loss, in the aftermath of the tragedy she started working to help other families affected and formed the nonprofit Voices of September 11th.

The organization is dedicated to helping families heal from the tragedy with resources, information and counseling.

The group also created the Living Memorial Project, a collection of photos and personal keepsakes to document the nearly 3,000 people who died on that day.

The photos are part of the National Sept. 11 Memorial and Museum in New York City.

Fetchet says Voices of September 11th has expanded to help communities prepare for, respond to and recover from other acts of terrorism as well as mass shootings and natural disasters.
