Woman sues Yale-New Haven Hospital over operating table fall

NORWALK - An elderly New Canaan woman has filed a lawsuit against Yale-New Haven Hospital after she fell from an operating table there.

Florence Fielder's attorney, Jim Horwitz, says his client was under anesthesia and was "coming to" at the time of the fall.

Fielder sustained injuries to her head, back, hip and collar bone from the spill. Horwitz says that he hopes Yale-New Haven Hospital will compensate his client for her losses.

In a statement, Yale-New Haven Hospital said, "The hospital deeply regrets this incident, and we have apologized to the patient. We promptly reported this matter to the state Department of Public Health, which included information about our implementation of a corrective action plan."
