WOODBRIDGE - The town of Woodbridge is mourning the loss of First Selectman Edward Sheehy.

A town official says Sheehy was not feeling well at a budget meeting last night. Reports say he was taken to Yale New Haven Hospital overnight and died at around 1 a.m.

Sheehy had been first selectman since 2006 and was running for re-election in May.

His wake will be held Friday, followed by a funeral Saturday. Town leaders say there will be a meeting Wednesday night to appoint someone to serve as first selectman until the May election.

The cause of death has not been released, but it is believed that Sheehy died from an aneurism. He is survived by his wife and four children.
