Woodbridge voters elect Democrat Ellen Scalettar as First Selectman

WOODBRIDGE - Woodbridge voters elected Democrat Ellen Scalettar to the office of First Selectman, according to the town clerk.

Scalettar received 1,616 votes to Republican challenger Catherine Wick, who received 1,207 votes.

She will replace Ed Sheehy who died unexpectedly two weeks ago. He had been running for re-election before his death.

Woodbridge is one of 13 communities across the state that holds their municipal elections on the first Monday in May, rather than in November.
