STRATFORD - David Wooster Middle School parents says school officials failed to promptly notify them of a lockdown yesterday.

Four young men with pellet guns were found on school property yesterday, spurring an immediate lockdown. Parents say they weren't notified of the late morning incident until hours later.

Interim Superintendent of Schools Margaret Lasek says there was a breakdown in the emergency notification system, as technicians were performing maintenance on it when the incident occurred. A message regarding the incident was posted on the district website as the lockdown was lifted.

Lasek says a new emergency notification system is being installed so parents will be able to get messages sent to their home, work or cell phones.
