SOMERSET - Fire crews say a construction worker was killed and another injured after a trench collapsed in Greenwich today.

Officials say the accident happened at around 3 p.m. at a home that was undergoing renovations on MacPherson Drive.

According to fire crews, the trench caved in while the two men were doing concrete and utility work.

Family members say the victim killed was Eric Chinchilla, a construction worker in his early 20s. The other victim sustained minor injuries.

Fire crews say the trench appeared to be unprotected and accidents like this one are not uncommon.
