NORWALK - A special event was held in Norwalk to commemorate Memorial Day.

Rep. Jim Hymes presented two World War II veterans, Conrad Angione and James Cappiello, with special medals of honor.

Hymes says the presentation of the medals is overdue by nearly 70 years.

Cappiello said the event came as a shock to him because his family did not tell him that he was going to be honored until he arrived at the ceremony.

The two veterans had tried to get the medals in previous years, but ran into roadblocks.
