Yerwood Center reopens in Stamford

STAMFORD - The Yerwood Center in Stamford is back open.

Officials originally said the youth center would be closing this Friday, but it unexpectedly shut down over the weekend. The Yerwood Center reopened its day care programs yesterday with an all-volunteer staff.

Catholic Charities runs the kitchen and says regardless of what happens upstairs at the Yerwood Center, it will not close the doors to people who need meals. Catholic Charities says it rents its space from the center but raises all its own funding.

Catholic Charities says it's searching for a new, larger facility, and hopes to move within the next eight months.
