BRIDGEPORT - Members of a support group for people who have lost loved ones to violence in Bridgeport celebrated the fourth anniversary Wednesday.

The group called You Are Not Alone, or YANA, held a public vigil in the park at 8 p.m. Wednesday.

Organizers say YANA was formed to help people deal with loss and to prevent more violent deaths by working with the community.

The group had their first meeting on the benches at Newfield Park on Newfield Avenue back in 2011, when they couldn't find anywhere else to convene as a group.

Founder Dawn Spearman has had the names of victims engraved on a memorial plaque.

YANA members say the greatest help a grieving person can get is to hear the words "You Are Not Alone."
