Young gymnasts practice as Olympians compete

GREENWICH - The Olympics are serving as inspiration for some young Connecticut gymnasts who are rooting for the U.S. team in Beijing.

The U.S. men's team has won a bronze medal and the women have qualified for the team finals. As the Olympic gymnasts tumble, turn and jump, would-be Olympians are looking on from Greenwich's Tumble Bugs.

The young gymnasts, ages 5 to 9, are trying their best to be like their heroes in China. Tumbling and sometimes fumbling, the kids were hard at work Tuesday. Many say they're even willing to practice at home to be the best.

"I don't even have a bar at my house, but I try to do it on the couch," says Alexa Choy, of Cos Cob. "My mom doesn't let me."
