Police: Car collides with tree off Route 8 in Shelton; 1 dead

It happened at 3:41 a.m. Saturday on Route 8 northbound between exits 13 and 14.

A car fire in Shelton killed a person overnight, police say.

It happened at 3:41 a.m. Saturday on Route 8 northbound between exits 13 and 14.

Police say the driver, who has not been identified, exited the highway and collided with a tree.

As a result of the impact, the car caught on fire. The victim died at the scene.

The accident remains under investigation.
