The town of New Canaan has had a rash of thefts recently, but instead of money or jewels, thieves are going after copper gutters.
Copper gutters cost five times more than regular gutters and are used primarily for the aesthetic value. Police say most of the thefts have occurred on homes under construction or that are for sale. Authorities say the copper sells for $3.50 a pound, making the gutters profitable for thieves.
Police haven?t made any arrests but say they have issued two arrest warrants in connection to one larceny. Police say they don?t know if the thefts are connected.
