Police are continuing a search for an alleged robber and rapist, and local women say the suspect needs to be caught.
The man allegedly demanded cash from a woman as she sat in her car in Soundview on Thursday, then he forced her into a nearby wooded area and sexually assaulted her, police say.
Female residents say they will walk in pairs until the man is caught. However, they are concerned for the children who will be walking through the area more once school starts.
Police are asking anyone with information to call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-577-TIPS.
