Police: Woman recovering after car bursts into flames
Bridgeport police say a woman is recovering Friday night after the car she was driving filled with smoke and eventually burst into flames.
Officials say a fisherman nearby was able to pull the woman further away from the flames. They say the incident began when the woman hit a curb in her car and went over a chain-linked fence.
Police say an officer was in the area and was able to respond in just about a minute.
Officials say the woman was taken to the hospital with serious burns and the man was not injured.
Investigators say there is no word on what caused the car to burst into flames but they are investigating speed as a factor for the initial crash.
