Protesters held a rally to support police officers in Hartford Saturday.

About 50 protesters showed up for the "Back the Blue" rally in the state capitol a day after Gov. Lamont signed a police accountability law.

The accountability legislation requires implicit bias training and bans chokeholds. It also allows residents to take civil action against an officer they feel treated them unfairly.

"We just want society to treat us with the respect a lot of deserve," says Anthony Buccheri, a police officer in Connecticut. "We do this job honorably day-in and day-our selflessly. To know there's a good portion of our society and government that really just hates, it hurts."
The rally remained peaceful.

Around 20 counter protesters also came out to the state capitol.
