WASHINGTON - Chris Murphy took the oath of office today, becoming the state's newest senator in Congress.

Sen. Richard Blumenthal escorted Murphy down the center aisle of the Senate chamber, where he was greeted by Vice President Joe Biden. He later signed the Oath Book, which contains the names of all senators.

Murphy replaces retiring Sen. Joe Lieberman, who spent more than 20 years in office.
