Thousands lined Stamford streets Sunday for the Veterans Day Parade, which honors those who have served the United States.
Residents say the weather was perfect for the event, which featured veterans, marching bands and an old combat helicopter that last flew in the 1960s in Vietnam.
James Porter, an Army veteran who joined in 1953, sat in the driver's seat on the float. Porter says he never flew the helicopters while serving, but being in one Sunday brought back memories.
