Bronx athlete finishes in elite group at Boston Marathon
It was Ethiopia's first-ever sweep at this year's 120th annual Boston Marathon, and a Bronx athlete was among the race's elite runners.
Buzunesh Deba finished seventh in the women's elite group in Monday's race. A leg injury kept her from competing last year, but she now says she's regaining her stride.
But the 28-year-old is now taking a much-needed break. In July, she will begin training for the New York City Marathon.
The 2013 Boston Marathon bombing affected Deba greatly. She says the enduring strength and commitment of the survivors and victims' families help inspire her to keep going in the sport she loves.
