Four dogs found dead in shoe boxes in West Farms

Neighbors found four dead dogs in shoe boxes along Wyatt Street near Bronx Park Avenue in West Farms Wednesday, investigators say.

Witnesses say the boxes were neatly stacked next to a tree stump. Neighbors say they did not look inside for two days.

Investigators say they found what appeared to be a mother dog and her puppies.

Investigators have not confirmed that animal cruelty was the cause of death, but News 12 elected not to show images of the dogs on air.

They appeared to have broken bones and matted fur.

Police arrived Wednesday evening and collected the boxes to turn over to the ASPCA, according to officials.
