Neighbors vexed by project along Pelham Parkway
Some Bronx residents say that although they are in favor of the city's Parks Department project to revamp land along the Pelham Parkway, they are being inconvenienced in the process.
The department says its goal is to create a safe, attractive and recreational space for pedestrians to use between Boston Road and Wallace Avenue.
However, some people are upset that they have to walk the extra distance around the fence-enclosed land because they can't cut through the park anymore.
The department is spending more than $1 million to replace park paths, add benches and replant foliage. The city is also using the money to add more seating to bus stops in the area.
The project is expected to be completed by March of 2018.
