Just ahead of Mother's Day, a special celebration was held for some moms at the James Monroe Houses Friday.
Residents Association President Carlos Mora threw the party to celebrate the moms of the community.
Mora says the event was for the moms who will not able to be with their children on Sunday.
"It's a day that usually a lot of their children don't recognize them on Mother's Day, so we wanted to recognize the mothers of James Monroe," says Mora.
The party was also offered for those who will be celebrating and remembering their mothers through pictures and memories.
