A Bronx woman is accused of leaving her dog without food or water while she was away on a weeklong cruise.
Neighbors called police after they heard the dog, a Yorkie, whimpering continuously in an apartment on Ely Avenue, according to police.
Officers found the dog on April 26 and removed the animal. During their investigation, they discovered that owner Sasha Diaz, 23, was allegedly away on a cruise.
She was arrested this week after she returned, and she is due back in court in July.
The ASPCA is taking care of the dog, which is now named Mikey.
