Students, parents rally after principal fired

Students and parents protested the firing of a principal without explanation from a Bronx school.

They rallied Friday outside of Schuylerville Preparatory High School on East Tremont Avenue, demanding to know why Principal Roberto Ossorio was escorted from the building on Monday.

According to the PTA president, Ossorio told her during a meeting last week that he had been fired but would stay until the end of the school year.

Letters explaining that an interim principal has been selected were sent home to parents after Ossorio was escorted from the building.

Parents say their questions about why Ossorio was fired have gone unanswered by the superintendent.

Ossorio's union has no comment about his firing, and the Department of Education says he won't be returning.
