3-year-old girl dies after being hit by car on Gerard Avenue in the Bronx
A car struck and killed a 3-year-old girl Monday near East 164th Street and Gerard Avenue.
It happened around 8 a.m.
Police say responding officers arrived and found the girl lying on the pavement unresponsive and with trauma to her body.
She was transported to Lincoln Hospital and pronounced dead, according to police.
Rougui Kebe, the girl's mother, identified her as Mariam Dansoko.
Kebe says she was walking her two daughters to a morning program at the time.
Police say a 21-year-old man was driving a 2014 Nissan on Gerard Avenue and made a left turn onto 164th Street when he struck the girl.
Police say the driver remained at the scene and charges were not immediately filed in the incident. But some witnesses tell News 12 that they think the traffic light was red at the time of the crash.
