Mister Softee vendors stock up in the Bronx

With warm weather comes the familiar jingle of the Mister Softee ice cream truck and the men and women who run those trucks from a Bronx garage.
On a recent day, Mister Softee ice cream trucks arrived at the company's garage on Southern Boulevard before heading out to their respective neighborhoods across the city.
Vendor Helie Vasquez was among them. "I've been doing this for almost 30 years," he said. "Almost every guy in the park is waiting for me to come out over there."
He is one of about 80 vendors who keep the soft-serve company running in the city. For Vasquez, Mister Softee is a family affair. His wife also owns a truck.
Asked whether he thinks Mister Softee is the best ice cream around, Vasquez replied, "In the world, not just New York City."
Many customers seem to agree. The most-requested treat right now is the Captain America cone, according to Vasquez. He said someone even gave him a ticket to see "Captain America: Civil War."
