Summer reading challenge kicks off in the Bronx

The New York Public Library and HBO's Sesame Street are teaming up to combat the summer slide some students experience during the summer months off from school.
The summer reading challenge is kicking off today at the Edenwall Library with a block party of books, featuring DJ Mani Fresh of DJ Pusha Entertainment.
Students are being asked to pledge at least 20 minute of reading every day during the summer.
Organizers say they want students to enjoy the summer, but they want them to keep their minds fresh all year long.
Also, City Councilman Andy King announced that the city made an agreement with the mayor to dedicate $40 million to public libraries to keep them open six days a week to help students continue reading throughout the year.
The summer reading challenge will wrap up with a ceremony at Yankee Stadium in August.
