Councilman Rafael Salamanca cuts the ribbon on new community center

City Councilman Rafael Salamanca opened his new office in his home neighborhood today, which will also serve as a community center. Both he and his mother previously worked for Urban Health Plan in the same building he is now using.
The community center is located at the corner of Southern Boulevard and Westchester Avenue in Hunts Point.
Salamanca says he will offer legal services out of the center to anyone seeking advice.
"Once a week we have an immigration attorney, who is dealing with any issues you have in terms of citizenship. And with the new budget I also got a legal aid attorney, who will be here once a week to help with housing issues, and she will go to court with you," says Salamanca. The center is open Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
