85-year-old Bronx artist earns statewide recognition

At 85 years old, Riverdale resident Al Korn is being recognized for his artwork at a state level.
Although he found his talent in the arts at 8 years old, he was just recently acknowledged in a statewide art competition organized by Leading Age New York. His interpretation of a skier in the mountains won Best in Show.
The octogenarian says he gets his inspiration from newspaper clippings and his memories. He uses bright colors to illustrate movement.
"It's encouraging to know that I haven't lost my eye for color," Korn said.
Retired from the television and film industry, Korn now stays at the Hebrew Home at Riverdale and puts images to canvas. He has filled the home with more than 100 of his pieces.
