Police say four people were injured after two separate car crashes on the Major Deegan Expressway in the Bronx Thursday.

The first crash happened around 2 a.m. near West 230th Street when police say the driver collided with a divider and overturned their car.

They say three people were transported to the hospital. A 25-year-old man was listed in serious condition while a 23- and 24-year-old man suffered non-life threatening injuries, according to police. A driver for the tow company responding to the accident says the 25-year-old man's arm went through the sun roof of the car and became severed. 

The second crash happened around 4 a.m. when police say a Porsche driving at a high rate of speed lost control and struck a Toyota before overturning. 

They say the driver inside the Toyota was transported to St. Barnabas Hospital in serious condition after fire officials used the Jaws of Life to remove him from his car. 

Police kept one lane open on the expressway as they cleared the accidents.
